The Peru In Style tour is a great tour that offers a wonderful look into Lima, Cuzco and Machu Picchu. We really enjoyed the overviews of Lima and Cuzco. Both tours highlighted the history and charms of each city. Machu Picchu is an exhilarating experience that leaves a lasting impression. We opted for the two-day pass, which worked out perfectly. The first day with the tour guide provided an excellent understanding of the history and make-up of the abandoned city. This allowed us to see the sites at our pace on the second day. I recommend staying at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge at the gate of Machu Picchu if you get the extended tour. Staying at the Lodge allows you to be at the gate first thing in the morning without having to catch the bus from Aguas Calientes. Overall, Peru In Style was a fabulous experience that will be treasured for a lifetime.
The true treasure of the trip is the Alexander + Roberts (A+R) staff and tour guides. Long story short, we used miles to arrange our travel to Peru outside of A+R while doing their private Nazca Lines and Machu Picchu tours for our 20th anniversary. Our luggage was lost but the A+R staff went over and above to track down our bags and coordinate getting our bags to us in between our various hotel stays. Saul even offered his jacket to me so I would not be cold on the morning boat tour while we waited for our bags to arrive. Over and above the luggage issue, all A+R guides and liaisons were very helpful and courteous. They explained each tour & handoff in great detail and answered all questions. Because their diligence, my wife and I have already decided we’ll use A+R for our 25th anniversary trip!
