On arrival at the airport or rail station, you’ll be warmly greeted and chauffeured to your choice of deluxe accommodations.

After breakfast, our educated native-born guide will be waiting to introduce you to the venerated landmarks, history and vibrant culture of the Russian capital. Traveling in comfort with your own personal car and driver, your privately guided city tour begins along the Sofia Embankment. Stretching along the Moskva River in the heart of the capital, this is a great place to take in the city skyline including the Kremlin. Continue past the imposing Pushkin Museum, set in a historic building completed in 1912, and visit the Cathedral of Christ the Savior; rebuilt less than 20 years ago after the destruction of the original 19th-century church, it is one of the largest Orthodox cathedrals in the world! Admire the towering monument to Peter the Great and drive past Gorky Park, a popular attraction for families. Admire the stately façade and glittering golden domes of Novodevichy Convent as your engaging erudite guide offers insight into its colorful history. Then ascend into the Sparrow Hills for breathtaking views over Moscow. As you make your way into the historic heart of the city, you’ll pass by other landmarks including the 19th-century Triumphal Arch commemorating Russia’s victory over Napoleon, the famed Bolshoi Theater, and the former KGB Building.  Your morning ends with a guided tour of Red Square, surrounded by some of Moscow’s most notable buildings including the GUM Department Store, the State Historical Museum with its impressive red-brick façade, the colorful onion-shaped domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral, and the monumental eastern wall of the Kremlin.

In the afternoon, your private sightseeing continues as your guide leads within the imposing walls of the Kremlin. Kremlin means, quite simply, “fortress” or “citadel” in Russian - and there are many kremlins throughout Russia! But “The Kremlin” here in the heart of Moscow atop Borovitsky Hill is the most famous and grandest of them all. Your tour of the extensive Kremlin grounds includes Cathedral Square where you’ll enjoy a guide visit inside one of these historic medieval churches.  The highlight of your afternoon here is sure to be the Kremlin Armory Museum, home to a dazzling collection of Imperial memorabilia including gold-gilded carriages, coronation robes, bejeweled crowns, the thrones of once-mighty Czars, and a large case filled with priceless Faberge Eggs! After sightseeing, you’ll be escorted back to your hotel for a free evening.  Meals B
